Elevator to the Gallows is a 1957 French crime drama. Louis Malle directed the movie about two criminal lovers planning the perfect crime. Florence Carala and Julien Travernier develop a scheme to kill Florence’s husband Simon. Simon is a wealthy industrialist and Julien’s boss. The plan is to make the murder look like a suicide. Julien becomes trapped in an elevator when the power is switched off for the weekend. Another twist in the story occurs when Julien’s car is stolen by a small-time crook and his girlfriend. Florence sees the car and thinks that Julien has run away with another woman. Miles Davis wrote and performed the soundtrack for the movie.
