El Dia que Murio el Silencio, which translates into English as The Day Silence Died, is a Bolivian drama from the late '90s. A dashing stranger wanders into the center of Villaserena and arranges loudspeakers through the village that incessantly play various songs. This seems to catch on with the populace, who offer the stranger money in exchange for airtime to spread feelings of love and ire. All spoken dialogue in El Dia que Murio el Silencio is delivered in Latin Spanish. The film received two awards, including the FIPRESCI prize from the Tróia International Film Festival, and two nominations.
