Eiffel I'm in Love is a light-hearted romantic comedy directed by Nasri Cheppy that was released in 2003. It stars Shandy Aulia as Tita, a beautiful and bubbly college student who has just graduated from high school and is looking for a summer job. Samuel Rizal plays Adit, a rich, introverted young man who works as a software developer at his father's company. Vena Annisa also stars in the film as Sari, Tita's best friend.
The movie is set in modern-day Jakarta, Indonesia, and follows the blossoming relationship between Tita and Adit over the course of a summer. The film takes its name from the fact that Tita is a huge fan of the Eiffel Tower in Paris and keeps a small replica in her room.
At the beginning of the movie, Tita and Sari are looking for summer jobs and visit a job fair where Adit's company has a booth. Tita immediately catches Adit's eye, and he hires her for a secretarial position at the company.
Adit is initially arrogant and dismissive towards Tita, believing that she is just another pretty girl with no real skills or talent. Tita, however, is determined to prove him wrong and works hard to impress him with her work ethic and dedication.
As they spend more time together, Tita and Adit begin to develop feelings for each other. However, their relationship is complicated by the fact that Adit comes from a wealthy family and his parents disapprove of Tita, who comes from a much humbler background. They believe that Adit should be dating someone from a similar social class, and their disapproval puts a strain on Tita and Adit's relationship.
Throughout the movie, Tita and Adit's relationship is also complicated by a number of clashing personality traits. Tita is outgoing and impulsive, while Adit is reserved and analytical. They clash over issues such as money, family expectations, and how to spend their time together.
Despite these problems, however, Tita and Adit's relationship continues to grow stronger over the course of the summer. They go on romantic dates to the city's landmarks, such as the National Monument and the Ancol Dreamland amusement park. They also visit a villa owned by Adit's family for a weekend getaway, which is where their relationship really starts to take off.
As Tita and Adit's relationship becomes more serious, they are forced to confront the challenges that come with dating someone from a different social class. They also face opposition from Adit's parents, who believe that Tita is not a suitable match for their son.
Despite these obstacles, Tita and Adit's love for each other endures. They are eventually able to overcome the challenges that threatened to tear them apart and come out on the other side with an even stronger relationship.
Overall, Eiffel I'm in Love is a sweet and satisfying romantic comedy that explores the realities of dating someone from a different social class. The chemistry between Shandy Aulia and Samuel Rizal is palpable, and their performances as Tita and Adit are charming and engaging. The film also features beautiful cinematography that showcases the beauty and vitality of Jakarta, making it a must-watch for fans of romantic comedies and Indonesian cinema.
