This is a Japanese biographical drama movie that was released in theaters in 1981. The movie is based upon the life of famed Japanese artist Hokusai. The Japanese artist's works are the inspiration behind the movie. Edo Porn focuses on the creation of the piece titled The Dream of the Fisherman's Wife painted by Hokusai. Set in feudal Japan and the main character of the film is Tetsuzō, a poor painter who lives with his daughter. An unsuccessful romance with a prostitute by the name of Ōnao doesn't work out. When his daughter brings a young girl over that looks like his former lover, the painter creates a piece that recalls his affair with his ex-lover.
