Eat Wheaties! is a 2020 comedy film directed by Scott Abramovitch and produced by David J. Phillips. It stars Tony Hale as Sid Straw, a quirky and socially awkward man who is obsessed with a former college classmate, Elizabeth Banks (played by Elisha Cuthbert), who is now a famous actress. Danielle Brooks also stars as his best friend, who is trying to help him navigate his obsession and other challenges in his life.
The movie begins with Sid attending his college reunion, where he runs into Elizabeth and tries to connect with her, only to embarrass himself in front of her and other classmates. After the reunion, Sid becomes obsessed with Elizabeth, following her on social media, watching all of her movies and TV appearances, and even starting a fan blog dedicated to her.
His obsession spirals out of control when he accidentally sends an inappropriate message to Elizabeth's entire email list, causing her to file a restraining order against him. As a result, Sid loses his job and his girlfriend, and is forced to confront his obsession and the consequences of his actions.
Throughout the movie, Sid's quirky personality and hilarious antics keep the audience entertained, while also addressing issues such as social media addiction and the blurred lines between fandom and obsession. Hale's performance as Sid is brilliant, bringing both humor and depth to the character, while Cuthbert does an excellent job as the elusive and successful Elizabeth Banks.
