Dushman is a Bollywood psychological thriller from 1998 that stars Kajol, Sanjay Dutt, and Ashutosh Rana in the lead roles. The movie was directed by Tanuja Chandra and produced by Mukesh Bhatt. It revolves around the story of two identical twin sisters who get separated at birth and lead completely different lives until they face each other for a final showdown.

The movie opens up with a scene showing Sonia (Kajol) being brutally raped and murdered by two men. This incident happens in broad daylight on a crowded road, but nobody comes to Sonia's rescue. The police investigation begins, and Kajol's character's twin sister Naina (also Kajol) becomes the prime suspect as she was the only one with a motive to kill Sonia. However, as the story progresses, we learn that there is much more to it than just sibling rivalry.

Naina is a simple, innocent girl who lives with her widowed mother and works as a teacher. On the other hand, Sonia is a spoilt brat who is accustomed to living an extravagant lifestyle. The movie takes us through various flashbacks, revealing the reasons behind the sisters' animosity towards one another.

As the police investigate, they discover that Sonia had many enemies who had a motive to kill her. They include her ex-boyfriend, her business associate, and even her father. The movie keeps the audience guessing until the very end, as to who committed the crime.

The movie's storyline is fast-paced and gripping, with many twists and turns that keep the audience engaged. The cinematography and the direction are impressive, and the background score complements the movie's overall mood. The acting performances of the lead actors are also commendable, with Kajol playing the dual role with ease.

Sanjay Dutt plays the role of an investigating officer, Inspector Rohit Malhotra, who is assigned to solve the case. He is portrayed as a man with a troubled past, whose wife committed suicide, and he is struggling to come to terms with it. Dutt's character relates to Sonia's situation, and he empathizes with her troubles, which brings him closer to Naina and helps him solve the case.

Ashutosh Rana plays the role of Gokul Pandit, a psychopath who is obsessed with Sonia and has been stalking her for quite some time. Gokul is a twisted character, and Rana does complete justice to the role with his outstanding performance. His portrayal of an insane stalker who can go to any extent to get what he wants is spine-chilling.

Overall, Dushman is an engaging thriller that keeps the audience on the edge of their seats. The movie addresses several societal issues such as rape, gender discrimination, and class divide, making it a must-watch for everybody. The film also delivers a strong message about the importance of sisterhood and bonding between siblings, which is beautifully portrayed in the climax.

Dushman is a 1989 action movie. It has received mostly positive reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 6.8.
