Drillbit Taylor is a comedy film directed by Steven Brill and released in 2008. The movie stars Owen Wilson as Drillbit Taylor, a homeless army veteran, who hires himself out as a bodyguard to three high school teenagers in order to make some money. The teenagers, Ryan (Troy Gentile), Wade (Nate Hartley), and Emmit (David Dorfman) are bullied constantly by a group of older students, led by Filkins (Alex Frost), and they need someone to protect them at school.

The movie begins with Ryan and Wade starting their first day of high school. They are immediately bullied by Filkins and his group of friends. They are forced to hand over their money and belongings to Filkins, who makes their life miserable. In order to protect themselves, the two teenagers set out to find a bodyguard. They see an ad in the newspaper for a bodyguard and they contact Drillbit Taylor. They meet him in a local park and hire him to be their bodyguard for $200 a week. However, they soon discover that Drillbit is not a real bodyguard, but a homeless man who just needs some money.

Drillbit takes the teenagers under his wing and teaches them how to fight and defend themselves. He also comes up with a plan to get revenge on Filkins. The plan involves stealing Filkins' sword, which he values more than anything else. However, the plan goes wrong and the teenagers are caught, resulting in a confrontation between them and Filkins. Drillbit, seeing that the teenagers are in over their heads, decides to reveal himself as a fake and tells Filkins that he is the real bodyguard.

Filkins, impressed by Drillbit’s fighting skills, hires him to be his own bodyguard, and Drillbit agrees in order to keep an eye on the situation. He trains the teenagers and fights Filkins' group of friends, but the confrontation ends in a draw. Ryan tells Drillbit that he does not want to end up like him and fight for money, and that the teenagers just want to protect themselves and be left alone. Drillbit understands and helps the teenagers come up with a new plan to confront Filkins.

Without giving away any spoilers, it is safe to say that the final act of the movie involves an epic showdown between the teenagers and Filkins and his group of friends, with Drillbit as the referee. The result of the fight is not as important as the lessons the teenagers learn along the way. They learn to stand up for themselves and that they do not need a bodyguard to protect them. They also learn that Drillbit is not just a homeless man, but a friend and mentor.

Overall, Drillbit Taylor is a fun and enjoyable comedy movie that deals with themes of bullying, friendship, and self-confidence. The performances of the cast are solid, with Owen Wilson providing some much-needed comedic relief as the titular character. While not breaking any new ground, the movie delivers what it promises, an entertaining and heartwarming story.

Drillbit Taylor is a 2008 comedy with a runtime of 1 hour and 41 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 5.7 and a MetaScore of 41.
