Dragon Eyes is a 2012 action movie that features martial arts fights and gun battles. Cung Le stars as Hong, a skilled fighter who comes to New Orleans to bring an end to the violence that plagues the city after the death of his mentor. When he arrives, he finds himself caught in the middle of a turf war between two rival gangs. To make matters worse, the corrupt police force is aiding one of the gangs, making it even harder for Hong to accomplish his mission. Jean-Claude Van Damme plays Tiano, a former gangster who's now a community leader, and who takes Hong under his wing and teaches him how to navigate the city's criminal underbelly.
As Hong gets closer to his goal, he realizes that the only way to make a real difference in the city is to unite the two gangs and take down the corrupt police officers. He also learns that his mentor's death was not accidental, but rather a murder orchestrated by a powerful businessman with ties to both the gangs and the police department.
The movie is fast-paced and full of action, with fight scenes choreographed by Cung Le himself. It's a gritty portrayal of a city overrun by crime, with characters who are complex and multi-layered.
Cung Le is excellent in his role as the tough but compassionate Hong, who's determined to bring justice to the city even if it means putting himself in danger. Jean-Claude Van Damme is also great as Tiano, who's haunted by his past but still determined to make a difference in his community.
The supporting cast is also strong, with Johnny Holmes delivering a standout performance as the ruthless gang leader who's willing to do whatever it takes to maintain his power.
The movie's soundtrack is also worth mentioning, as it perfectly captures the movie's gritty and intense atmosphere. Overall, Dragon Eyes is a must-watch for fans of martial arts movies and action thrillers. With its strong performances, gripping storyline, and thrilling fight scenes, it's a movie that will keep you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end.
