Dracula II: Ascension, released in 2003, is a horror film directed by Patrick Lussier. The movie is a sequel to Dracula 2000 and takes place a year after the events of the first movie. The story begins as a group of medical students, led by Elizabeth Blaine (Jennifer Kroll), perform an autopsy on a corpse found in a cemetery. However, they soon realize that the body is that of Dracula (Stephen Billington), who was thought to be dead after the events of the last film. Their shock turns to terror when they discover that he is not quite dead yet- the Count has gone into a deep hibernation and is about to awake at any moment.

As the group prepares to move the body to a safer location, a mysterious stranger named Lowell (Jason Scott Lee) appears and attempts to steal Dracula's body. He explains that he is a vampire hunter and that he needs to destroy the evil Count once and for all. However, the group soon discovers that Lowell's motives are not entirely pure, and that he may have other plans for Dracula.

Dracula eventually awakes and escapes from his captors, setting out on a quest for power and revenge. He begins to convert the members of Blaine's medical team into vampires, including the unscrupulous doctor Matt (Craig Sheffer) and the beautiful but deadly Alexa (Diane Neal). The group realizes that they must work together to stop Dracula before he can unleash his wrath upon the world.

The film features a mix of action and horror elements, with plenty of blood and gore. The special effects are impressive, with some visually stunning vampire transformations and gruesome kills. The cinematography is dark and moody, perfectly complementing the film's gothic atmosphere.

The acting is generally decent, with Kroll doing a good job as the lead protagonist. She portrays Blaine as intelligent and resourceful, but also vulnerable and relatable. Lee also stands out as the enigmatic vampire hunter, with an intense and brooding performance that adds to the film's tension.

Overall, Dracula II: Ascension is a solid sequel that delivers on the promise of its predecessor. It may not be the most original or groundbreaking horror film out there, but it still manages to provide plenty of thrills and scares. If you're a fan of the genre, or just looking for a fun and gruesome vampire movie to watch, this film is definitely worth checking out.

Dracula II: Ascension is a 2003 horror movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 25 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 4.7.
