Set in the backdrop of Varanasi, one of the oldest and religious cities in India, Dozakh in Search Of Heaven is a thought-provoking film that explores the themes of morality, redemption, and the afterlife. Directed by Zaigham Imam, the movie centers around the life of a Muslim cobbler named Allah Rakha (played by Garrick Chaudhary) and his family.
Allah Rakha is a simple man who holds deep religious beliefs and leads a contented life with his wife (played by Roobie) and two children. His world, however, turns upside down when his son gets implicated in a crime, and he ends up in jail. Desperate to save his son, Allah Rakha agrees to take the blame for the crime, and he ends up serving a ten-year sentence.
When he is finally released from prison, he returns to his family to find out that his wife has died, and his son has become a hardened criminal. Full of guilt and regret, Allah Rakha turns to religion to find answers to his questions about life and the afterlife.
As he begins his journey to explore the meaning of life and death, he encounters a group of Sufis who live in the nearby dargah (a shrine built over the grave of a revered religious figure). These Sufis, led by Baba Chammo (played by Lalit Tiwari), are a group of mystics who believe in the power of love and compassion to transcend religious boundaries and achieve spiritual enlightenment.
Through his interactions with the Sufis, Allah Rakha discovers the true meaning of love, sacrifice, and selflessness. He learns that in the end, what matters most is not the wealth one accumulates or the power one wields, but the love and compassion one has for others.
The film beautifully captures the essence of Varanasi, one of the most religious and culturally-rich cities in India. The ghat (steps leading to the river) where the characters spend most of their time is shown in all its glory, with the scenic view of the River Ganges providing the perfect backdrop to the story.
Garrick Chaudhary's nuanced portrayal of Allah Rakha is noteworthy, as he manages to bring out the character's inner conflicts and struggles with great sensitivity. Roobie, who plays Allah Rakha's wife, also delivers a solid performance, and her chemistry with Chaudhary is palpable.
The film's music, composed by Mukesh Sharma and Jaspreet Jasz, is soulful and enhances the emotional impact of the story. The songs are mostly Sufi-inspired, with the melodious qawwalis (a form of Sufi devotional music) being the highlight of the soundtrack.
Overall, Dozakh in Search Of Heaven is a powerful and touching film that delves deep into the complexities of human emotions and the nature of spiritual enlightenment. It is a must-watch for anyone who wants to experience the true essence of love, compassion, and faith.
