It's the 1960s and women's liberation is in full swing in the romantic comedy Down with Love. At the New York publishing agency Banner House, writer Barbara Novak presents her new work, Down with Love. Its no-commitment approach to women's relationships with men is a huge turn-off to the men of Banner House, and they refuse to promote the book.
In an effort to garner publicity for the book, Barbara's editor sets up a meeting between Barbara and the notorious ladies' man, Catcher Block. After Catcher postpones their dates again and again, Barbara decides to promote the book on her own, and women everywhere immediately take to Barbara's new approach to love and relationships.
Catcher is now intrigued by her, but Barbara wants nothing to do with him. Catcher devises a scheme to get closer to Barbara. As the ladies' man matches wits with the down with love woman, both may soon find that there's more to each other, and to themselves, than meets the eye.
