Down for Whatever is a gripping and stylish drama movie that was released in 2018, the movie focuses on Tracy White (LeToya Luckett) who is facing a dilemma. Tracy is a successful doctor whose sister has just been released from prison. Tracy’s sister, Cindy (Bre-Z), wants to make up for everything she missed while in prison and has a lot of catching up to do.

Tracy is willing to help her sister in every way possible but things take a dark turn when Cindy is being watched by a shady character, known only as ‘Dekia’ (Micah Powell). Dekia is a powerful man with a criminal past, and takes an immediate interest in Cindy.

During this time, Tracy is trying to balance her career, being a single mom of two kids, and still spend time with her new boyfriend, Mike (Hosea Chanchez). Tracy’s life is quickly turned upside down when she discovers that Dekia is not who he says he is. Tracy has to use all her medical knowledge and resources to save her family.

The movie is directed by Tim Folsome and it manages to create a thrilling plot that keeps the viewers glued to their screens right from the beginning. The pacing is excellent, moving the plot along at just the right speed, keeping the viewer invested in what is happening. Folsome manages to masterfully tell a story of a woman fighting to protect her family from powerful enemies.

Luckett’s performance as Tracy is spot on. She embodies the strong and independent woman with a lot of heart, giving a truly engaging performance. Chanchez’s role as Mike is also noteworthy. He brings a level of charm and humor to the movie which balances the darker tones nicely.

Bre-Z’s performance as Cindy is incredibly emotional, giving depth to her character and making her more than just a stereotype. Her transition from being in prison to struggling in the outside world is portrayed with nuance and understanding. Micah Powell as the villainous Dekia is also well done. His portrayal of the sleazy criminal is terrifying and credible which keeps the viewer on edge.

The movie’s sound and cinematography are top-notch. Folsome does an excellent job in setting the mood of the movie, capturing the intense moments with smooth camera work and music. The pace of the movie is kept up with some excellent and well-timed action sequences to keep the viewer engaged.
