Double Impact is a 1991 action movie starring the martial arts legend Jean-Claude Van Damme in a dual role. Directed by Sheldon Lettich, and produced by Menahem Golan and Yoram Globus, who were famous for producing movies with strong action scenes, Double Impact is a thrilling movie with intense fight scenes and explosions. The story revolves around twins, Alex and Chad (Van Damme), who were separated when they were children after their parents were killed. Alex was raised in Hong Kong by a gangster, while Chad was raised in France by his uncle, Frank (Geoffrey Lewis). But after 25 years, the twins reunite and decide to avenge their parents' death.

Upon arriving in Hong Kong, Chad and Alex discover that their parents were killed by a ruthless crime lord named Raymond Zhang (Philip Chan). Zhang also happens to be the business partner of Alex's adoptive father, Nigel Griffith (Alan Scarfe), who is planning to build a luxury resort in Hong Kong. Knowing that they need to earn Zhang's trust to get close to him, the twins pose as Nigel's representatives, and offer Zhang a partnership deal.

The plot then unfolds with the twins trying to take down Zhang and his criminal empire. They are aided by the beautiful Danielle Wilde (Alonna Shaw), who is Nigel's loyal assistant but has secrets of her own. Together, the group faces danger as they fight against Zhang's army of henchmen and navigate the treacherous underworld of Hong Kong's criminal scene.

The movie is filled with exciting fight sequences, including a memorable scene where Van Damme fights against himself in a dimly lit alley. In addition to the fight choreography, the movie boasts of impressive visuals, such as Hong Kong's beautiful cityscape and its bustling markets.

One of the quintessential elements of Double Impact is its music, which was composed by Arthur Kempel. The movie features a catchy theme song called “Feel the Impact,” which is perfectly suited for the high-octane action scenes.

Jean-Claude Van Damme delivers another brilliant performance in his dual role as the twins. He showcases his martial arts expertise, which he had mastered during his earlier career as a kickboxing champion. His French accent adds an exotic charm to his role as Chad, while he portrays the dangerous yet charismatic character of Alex with equal ease.

Geoffrey Lewis plays the role of Frank, who is Chad's uncle and has raised him. He brings a sense of warmth and humor to the movie and is a great foil to Van Damme's intense portrayal of the brothers. Alonna Shaw is also impressive as the beautiful and mysterious assistant, Danielle Wilde. She holds her own in the predominantly male cast and adds a touch of glamour to the movie.

Overall, Double Impact is an enjoyable action movie that packs a punch. The story is straightforward, but the action sequences and impressive performances make it worth the watch. The movie is a testament to Jean-Claude Van Damme's skills as an action hero and remains a cult classic.

Double Impact is a 1991 thriller with a runtime of 1 hour and 47 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 5.6 and a MetaScore of 40.
