Don't Go In The House is a slasher movie from 1979 that follows the story of Donny Kohler, a disturbed young man who has recently inherited his mother's house after her death. Donny's childhood was marred by his abusive mother who burned him with scalding hot metal as a punishment for his misbehavior. As an adult, Donny suffers from severe psychological trauma and isolation, living a solitary life in his mother's decaying house while working as a welder in a nearby factory.

Donny's obsession with fire becomes apparent early on in the movie, as he sets little fires around the house and stares at them, mesmerized. He also spends his evenings listening to his mother's voice on a tape recorder, which he has rigged up to play her voice on a loop. The situation takes an even more bizarre turn as Donny begins to collect mannequins and hooks them up around the house. He dresses them up in different costumes, talks to them as if they were alive, and even invites them to dinner.

As the movie progresses, we see Donny's psychological state deteriorate further. He starts hearing voices, imagining that his mother is talking to him and encouraging him to "cleanse" other people with fire. Unable to resist the urges, Donny begins luring women to his house, telling them that he needs help with some chores. Once they enter, he locks them inside and subjects them to his twisted rituals, using a flamethrower to set them on fire.

The murders are gruesome, with the victims screaming in agony as Donny watches impassively. The scenes are punctuated with eerie music and sound effects, making for a very unsettling viewing experience. The police are baffled by the murders, with no clear suspects or motives, and they struggle to catch the killer before he can strike again.

As the movie nears its climax, Donny's grip on reality slips away completely. He starts having vivid hallucinations of his mother, who tells him that he needs to cleanse the city of all filth. Donny goes on a rampage, burning down his workplace and attacking the police when they arrive. In the end, he returns home, setting his house on fire with himself and his mannequins inside.

Despite being a low-budget horror movie, Don't Go In The House manages to create a chilling atmosphere with its disturbing imagery and haunting soundtrack. The movie's exploration of psychological trauma and mental illness is also notable, as it delves into the mind of a serial killer and shows how past abuse can have a lasting impact on a person's psyche. The acting by Dan Grimaldi, who plays Donny, is also commendable, as he manages to convey a sense of sadness and madness in his performance.

That being said, Don't Go In The House is not for everyone. The movie's graphic violence and unsettling themes make it a difficult watch for some viewers, and it's not recommended for those who are easily disturbed. However, for fans of 70s slasher flicks and psychological horror, Don't Go In The House is definitely worth a watch.

Don't Go In The House is a 1980 horror movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 30 minutes. It has received moderate reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 5.6.
