Watch Discovering Hamlet

This film is about the production of Hamlet at the Birmingham Repertory Theater in England. It stars Kenneth Branagh as the troubled Dane and is directed by Derek Jacobi. This was Jacobi's directing debut but he was no stranger to the character of Hamlet, achieving prior success in the role. The documentary format gives the viewer keen insight into the rehearsal process and Branagh's development of the character. The short film includes some scenes from the play but was more about the dynamics of the director/actor interaction, especially since there were two strong personalities working on such a complex role.
