Devil's Hand is a 1961 horror-thriller that tells the story of Rick Turner, a struggling artist who falls in love with a mysterious woman named Bianca Milan. Little does Rick know that Bianca is a part of a satanic cult that is hunting him down to make him the next victim of their lifelong ritual. The movie begins with a narration highlighting the superstitions and beliefs of various cultures about the 'Devil's Hand,' a symbol of Satanic worship. Rick Turner (Robert Alda), an artist living in the city, attends a gallery opening of his latest artwork that fails to make an impression among the critics. There, he meets Bianca Milan (Linda Christian) and becomes instantly smitten by her beauty. They soon start seeing each other, and Rick begins to find success, thanks to the inspiration he draws from Bianca.
As Rick falls more in love with Bianca, he starts to notice small details that make him feel uneasy about her. He finds out that Bianca's father was also a painter who died under mysterious circumstances. Rick also realizes that Bianca's ring features the Devil's Hand symbol, which he saw in one of his nightmares. When Rick seeks guidance from a psychiatrist about his nightmares, he finds out that the symbol represents a savage, murderous cult.
As Rick continues to investigate the cult, he catches them red-handed during the ritual. In this ceremony, Rick is the chosen one, and they plan to sacrifice him to Satan to carry out their wicked ways. Rick's best friend, Donna Trent (Ariadne Welter), comes to his rescue, and together they try to escape from the cult.
Throughout the movie, the cult plays mind games with Rick and tries to lure him to join their sinful ways. Despite the obstacles, Rick perseveres and tries to gain control of the situation. With twists and turns aplenty, the audience is taken on a wild ride as the cult tries to claim their unsuspecting victim.
The film features a fantastic performance by the lead actors. Linda Christian plays the alluring, mysterious Bianca Milan, and Robert Alda excels at bringing Rick Turner's conflicting emotions to life. The supporting cast also does their part, giving a convincing portrayal of the dogmatic followers.
Devil's Hand features high-quality cinematography, with some notable scenes that stand out. The scene where Bianca invites Rick to her childhood home and theater sequence at the end is superbly directed and edited, adding to the drama and suspense of the film.
Overall, Devil's Hand is an entertaining horror-thriller that will keep horror fans captivated from start to finish. Its chilling plot, credible characterization, and fantastic acting bring the narrative to life and leave the audience breathless. The film presents an engaging story that blends danger, superstitions, and cult practices into a thrilling plot that keeps the audience engaged throughout.
