In Deja Vu, Denzel Washington plays ATF agent Doug Carlin, who is investigating a terrorist attack in New Orleans. As he delves into the case, he becomes intrigued by a top-secret government program that allows them to look into the past using advanced technology. Carlin is recruited by the program's lead scientist, Dr. Alexander Denny (Adam Goldberg), to use the technology to identify the bomber before he strikes again. As Carlin navigates the program and the events surrounding the terrorist attack, he begins to develop a connection with a woman named Claire Kuchever (Paula Patton), who was killed in the explosion.

Using his new-found ability to look into the past, Carlin becomes obsessed with saving Claire and finding her killer. With the help of FBI agent Pryzwarra (Val Kilmer) and local cop Jack McCready (Bruce Greenwood), Carlin sets out to track down the bomber and prevent the attack from happening again.

As Carlin delves deeper into the case and uses the technology to explore the past, he discovers that the events leading up to the explosion are not what they seem. He must race against the clock and the manipulations of the program's creators to uncover the truth and save Claire before it's too late.
