Deep Dark is a 2015 horror movie directed by Michael Medaglia. The film stars Sean McGrath as Herman, a struggling artist desperate for inspiration, and Anne Sorce as Donna, a quirky and slightly unhinged landlord who rents Herman a cheap, dingy apartment. Denise Poirier also stars as a mysterious voice named The Hole, tempting Herman to make a deal that could change his life forever.

The movie takes place in Portland, Oregon, and centers around Herman's artistic aspirations. After years of struggle, Herman is running out of ideas and money. In a moment of desperation, he responds to an ad for a cheap apartment that promises to be the perfect place to create his masterpiece.

Upon arriving, Herman is greeted by Donna, a delightfully eccentric landlord who shows him around the apartment. Despite the rundown appearance, Herman sees potential in the space and begins to settle in. However, things quickly take a strange turn when Herman hears a mysterious voice coming from a small hole in the wall.

The voice promises Herman artistic success beyond his wildest dreams in exchange for something he holds dear. Herman soon finds himself wrapped up in a dangerous game of give and take with the mysterious voice, sacrificing more and more in order to achieve his artistic goals. As The Hole's requests become increasingly dark and twisted, Herman must decide just how far he's willing to go for his craft.

Throughout the film, the tension between Herman and The Hole continues to escalate, with the voice driving him to increasingly extreme measures. Meanwhile, Donna's own motives and history with the apartment begin to surface, adding further layers to the already twisted plot.

While the film does have some gory moments, its true horror lies in its portrayal of the creative process and the lengths people will go to achieve their goals. As Herman's descent into madness continues, the audience is taken on a terrifying journey into the darkest corners of his mind. The film is a chilling reminder of the dangers of obsession, and the often-high price of success.

The acting in Deep Dark is impressive, with Sean McGrath delivering a standout performance as the tortured artist. Anne Sorce's portrayal of the quirky and unpredictable Donna is also noteworthy, adding a touch of levity to the otherwise serious tone of the film. Denise Poirier's voice work as The Hole is suitably haunting and adds an extra layer of tension to the already unsettling atmosphere.

Overall, Deep Dark is a well-crafted horror movie that uses its small cast and limited setting to great effect. The film's exploration of creativity and the lure of success will leave audiences questioning just how far they'd be willing to go for their dreams. If you're a fan of psychological horror and don't mind a few gruesome moments, Deep Dark is definitely worth checking out.

Deep Dark is a 2015 horror movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 19 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 5.0.
