Deep Blue Sea 2 is a 2018 thriller movie that is a sequel to the 1999 hit film Deep Blue Sea. Directed by Darin Scott, the movie stars Danielle Savre, Rob Mayes, Michael Beach, and Nathan Lynn in the lead roles. The movie starts with shark conservationist Dr. Misty Calhoun (Savre) being summoned to a remote sea research facility where a group of scientists is conducting experiments on bull sharks. Dr. Calhoun is asked to evaluate the research and ensure that it is being conducted with the utmost care and in accordance with ethical standards.

The team of scientists includes Trent Slater (Mayes), the lead scientist who has developed a serum that can boost the intelligence of the sharks, and Carl Durant (Beach), the billionaire funding the project. Meanwhile, the facility is staffed by technicians and security personnel, including Eugene Shaw (Lynn).

Initially, Dr. Calhoun is impressed with the facility and the research, but she soon realizes that things are not what they seem. The scientists have been injecting the sharks with a serum that has made them much more intelligent and aggressive, effectively turning them into killing machines. The sharks quickly break through their enclosures and begin attacking the staff, causing chaos and destruction throughout the facility.

As the situation spirals out of control, Dr. Calhoun and the surviving staff members must work together to find a way to stop the sharks and prevent them from escaping into the open sea. But as they quickly discover, the sharks are smarter and more determined than anyone could have imagined, making escape virtually impossible.

One of the standout features of Deep Blue Sea 2 is the impressive visual effects that bring the sharks to life. The film uses a combination of practical and digital effects to create some truly terrifying sequences, including a tense scene in which a group of people are trapped in a sinking room with a shark. The sharks are also given a new level of intelligence, making them much more formidable opponents than in the original film.

The performances in the movie are also solid across the board, with Danielle Savre carrying much of the film as the lead character. Rob Mayes and Michael Beach are both effective as the scientists with their own agendas, while Nathan Lynn brings some much-needed comic relief as the resident goofball. The rest of the cast is largely made up of disposable characters who are there to be eaten by sharks, but they all do their jobs well.

Overall, Deep Blue Sea 2 is a solid sequel that delivers on the thrills and chills of the original. While it may not break any new ground in terms of storytelling, it is a well-executed genre film that will satisfy fans of shark movies and creature features. It also serves as a reminder of why we should tread lightly in our interactions with the natural world, as the consequences of our actions can be truly terrifying.

Deep Blue Sea 2 is a 2018 action movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 34 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 3.4.
