In the 2006 Christmas comedy film "Deck the Halls," two neighbors engage in an escalating competition to have the most festive and impressive holiday decorations in their respective homes. Steve Finch (Matthew Broderick) is a well-meaning but uptight suburban dad who takes pride in his perfectly decorated house and neighborhood. His obsession with maintaining this aesthetic is tested when Buddy Hall (Danny DeVito), a new neighbor with a flashy personality and big ideas, moves in across the street. Buddy is loud, brash, and determined to have his house seen from space with the brightest and most attention-grabbing holiday displays imaginable.

As the two men battle to outdo one another, their wives and children are caught in the middle. Steve feels Buddy's decorations are garish and disruptive, while Buddy sees Steve's subdued decor as uncreative and boring. Meanwhile, Steve's wife Kelly (Kristin Davis) longs for her husband to loosen up and have some fun, while Buddy's wife Tia (Kristin Chenoweth) grows increasingly frustrated with her husband's obsession with winning.

As the competition reaches a fever pitch, the entire town becomes involved, and the two men take increasingly extreme measures to outshine one another, including stealing each other's decorations, sabotaging each other's displays, and engaging in a slapstick holiday brawl. Along the way, they learn important lessons about the true meaning of Christmas, the value of community, and the importance of family.

"Deck the Halls" is a lighthearted and amusing holiday film that offers a tongue-in-cheek look at the lengths some people will go to in order to create the perfect Christmas atmosphere. The chemistry between Broderick and DeVito is entertaining to watch, and Chenoweth and Davis provide solid support as the beleaguered wives caught in the middle of their husbands' antics. The film is filled with slapstick humor and over-the-top Christmas decorations that will delight fans of the holiday season. While not groundbreaking or particularly deep, "Deck the Halls" is a fun and festive movie that is sure to put audiences in the holiday spirit.

Deck The Halls is a 2006 comedy with a runtime of 1 hour and 30 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 5.1 and a MetaScore of 28.
