DeadTectives is a horror-comedy movie released on September 21, 2018. Directed by Tony West, it follows the story of a group of down-on-their-luck paranormal investigators who are finally given a chance to prove themselves by filming their ghost-hunting television show in a haunted house. The movie opens with the introduction of the main characters; Sam (played by Chris Geere), a charismatic and overconfident British host of the show, Lloyd (played by David Newman), the cameraman, Javier (played by Jose Maria de Tavira), the sound guy, and Kate (played by Tina Ivlev), the show's producer. The team has been struggling to keep their show on the air, with ratings at an all-time low, and debts piling up.

While trying to salvage their careers, they receive a call from a wealthy couple who offer them the opportunity to shoot their next episode in a mansion in Mexico. The team is wary, but they ultimately accept the offer, hoping to make a comeback and gain a new audience.

As soon as they arrive, strange things begin to happen. They hear bumps in the night, see shadows moving in empty rooms, and notice that the mansion's staff is acting strangely. Despite this, the team presses on with their investigation, convinced that ghosts are behind the occurrences.

As they explore the mansion, the team begins to unravel the truth behind the haunting. They soon realize that the ghosts they've been trying to capture on camera are actually innocent victims of a sacrificial ritual gone wrong. When they finally learn the truth, they decide to help the spirits, putting themselves in danger in the process.

One of the highlights of the movie is the dynamic between the characters. While they are initially depicted as selfish and greedy individuals, we learn that each of them has a backstory that explains why they act the way they do. As the movie progresses, they begin to bond, and we see their relationships evolve into something deeper.

DeadTectives is both scary and funny, which makes for an enjoyable viewing experience. While it is a horror movie at heart, it doesn't take itself too seriously, and the comedic moments are well-timed and never feel out of place.

The acting in the movie is solid, with each actor bringing their own unique quirks to their character. Chris Geere, in particular, shines as Sam, bringing a charming and irreverent energy to the role. Tina Ivlev also does a great job as Kate, grounding the team with a no-nonsense attitude that keeps them focused.

The movie's visuals are also worth mentioning. The mansion is beautifully shot, with its ornate architecture and grandeur providing an eerie backdrop for the story. The special effects are impressive, with the ghosts being both terrifying and visually stunning.

Overall, DeadTectives is a fun and entertaining movie that delivers on both the horror and comedy fronts. It is a great watch for anyone looking for a scary movie that doesn't take itself too seriously. With a talented cast and impressive visuals, it is sure to become a cult classic.

DeadTectives is a 2019 comedy with a runtime of 1 hour and 32 minutes. It has received moderate reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 5.9.
