Dead Tone is a horror-thriller film that was released in 2007. The movie follows a group of friends, all of whom are attending a party at a remote mansion. As the night wears on, the guests begin receiving strange phone calls from an unknown caller who seems to be taunting and terrorizing them. The main characters of the movie are seven friends who are all attending a party thrown by one of their classmates at a remote mansion. The friends include seven friends: Sid, Max, Jamal, Sophia, Tina, Marcus, and Roxy. Sid is a wealthy guy who owns the mansion where the party is taking place. Max is a smart aleck and a troublemaker. Jamal is the cool guy, and Sophia is his girlfriend. Tina is Max's girlfriend, and Marcus and Roxy are a couple as well.
The party starts out as typical college party fare, with drinking and dancing and hooking up. However, things take a turn for the worse when a group of strangers with masks arrive at the party and start causing trouble. The chaos only gets worse when the friends start receiving threatening phone calls from an unknown number.
The unknown caller seems to know all of their secrets and starts using them against them, turning the party into a deadly game of cat and mouse. As the night wears on, the group becomes increasingly paranoid and desperate to escape, but the caller seems to be one step ahead of them at every turn.
Throughout the movie, the audience is left to wonder who the mysterious caller is and what their motivation is. As the group of friends dwindles, the tension and suspense continue to build until the final, shocking twist.
The acting in Dead Tone is serviceable, with some standouts among the cast. Austin Basis and Chris Blasman do a great job at conveying the fear and desperation of their characters, while Jonathan Chase adds some much-needed humor to the proceedings.
The cinematography and direction are also solid, with some tense and creative shots that enhance the mood of the movie. The soundtrack, which relies heavily on techno and dance music, is a bit hit or miss, but it does add to the party atmosphere of the early scenes.
Overall, Dead Tone is a competently made horror-thriller that will satisfy genre fans looking for a fun, suspenseful ride. While it's not exactly groundbreaking or stomach-churning, it delivers on what it promises and provides a nice twist at the end.
Dead Tone is a 2007 horror movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 40 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 4.6.
