Darra is a Punjabi-language thriller film released in India in 2016. It is directed by Parveen Kumar and stars Karamjit Anmol, Pammi Bai, and Kartar Cheema in lead roles. The story revolves around a village in Punjab called Darra. The village is known for its gory history of human sacrifices that were performed in the past. However, as time passed, the practice of human sacrifices stopped, and the village went into oblivion.

The film introduces the character of Jagga (Karamjit Anmol), a simple-minded man who is a farmer by profession. Jagga lives with his mother and sisters and is often teased by other members of the village due to his lack of intelligence. However, he is content with his simple life and does not pay attention to the jibes.

One day, Jagga falls in love with a girl and decides to marry her. However, the girl's father refuses to give his daughter's hand in marriage to Jagga because of his low intelligence. Disheartened, Jagga seeks help from his friend, a doctor named Choudhary (Pammi Bai), who suggests that he undergoes a medical treatment that will enhance his mental abilities.

After the treatment, Jagga becomes highly intelligent and starts to notice the strange happenings in the village. He discovers that the old practice of human sacrifices has not entirely ended and that the village is still under the grip of the people who carry out those sacrifices.

Jagga decides to put an end to this backward practice and sets out to find the truth behind the recent deaths. He also seeks the help of local journalist Karam Singh (Kartar Cheema) to expose the culprits behind the killings.

The film does an excellent job of keeping the suspense going until the very end, with unexpected plot twists and thrilling action scenes that leave viewers at the edge of their seats. The characters are well-developed, and the performances of the lead actors are top-notch. Karamjit Anmol's portrayal of Jagga is particularly noteworthy, as he brings depth and complexity to his character's transformation from a simple-minded farmer to an intellectual hero.

The film also touches upon the issue of child marriage, a prevalent practice in many rural areas of India. It highlights the importance of education and how it can change lives and bring about positive change in society.

The cinematography is stunning, capturing the beauty of rural Punjab and immersing viewers in the setting of the film. The film's soundtrack is also noteworthy, with catchy songs that fit the tone of the movie.

Overall, Darra is a must-watch for fans of Punjabi cinema and those who enjoy thrilling suspense movies. It is a well-made film that keeps viewers engaged from start to finish, with a powerful message about social change and progress.
