Daily Dozens is a charming romantic comedy film from 1926 that follows the story of a young man named Jack. Jack, played by Jack Cooper, is a salesman for a department store, and he is in love with a fellow salesclerk named Ethel, played by Ethelyn Gibson. However, Ethel is already engaged to a stuffy businessman named Mr. Brown, played by John J. Richardson.
At the beginning of the movie, Jack is trying to find a way to win Ethel's heart, but he has some stiff competition in the form of Mr. Brown. To make matters more complicated, Ethel's mother doesn't approve of Jack because he doesn't fit into her idea of what a respectable young man should be. Despite these obstacles, Jack persists and tries to find ways to show Ethel that he is the better choice.
As the story unfolds, we see Jack's humorous attempts to win Ethel's affections. He tries everything from buying her fancy gifts to taking her to impressive places around town. However, nothing seems to work, and Ethel remains committed to her engagement with Mr. Brown.
Just when it seems like all hope is lost, Jack comes up with a brilliant plan to win Ethel over once and for all. He enters a dance competition at a local club, hoping to dazzle Ethel with his fancy footwork. His plan works, and Ethel is impressed by his moves and his ability to win the competition.
With Ethel now starting to see Jack in a new light, he uses his newfound confidence to win her heart completely. The two become inseparable, and they make plans to leave their jobs at the department store and start a new life together.
While the central focus of the movie is on the romantic relationship between Jack and Ethel, there are also plenty of comedic moments throughout the film. From Jack's attempts to impress Ethel's mother to his misguided attempts to buy her the perfect gift, there are plenty of laughs to be had throughout the film.
Overall, Daily Dozens is a charming and entertaining romantic comedy that captures the spirit of the era in which it was made. With its mix of romance and humor, it's easy to see why this movie was so popular in its time and why it remains a beloved classic to this day.
