Critters 4, directed by Rupert Harvey and released in 1992, is a science fiction horror movie and the fourth installment in the Critters film series. The movie is set in space, on a spaceship that is on its way to Earth. The movie stars Don Keith Opper as Charlie McFadden, Terrence Mann as Ug, and Paul Whitthorne as Ethan. The spaceship is carrying two of the last eight remaining Critters in existence. These Critters are being taken to a research station on Earth, where they will be studied and eventually cloned in the hopes of preventing their extinction. The Critters, however, manage to escape their captivity and wreak havoc on the spaceship. They begin to attack and kill the crew members one by one.
Charlie McFadden, who is a recurring character in the Critters film series, is also on board the spaceship. He is working as a bounty hunter and is trying to catch the Critters before they can cause any more damage. Ug, who is also a recurring character from the previous films, is the leader of a group of shape-shifting aliens who are trying to capture the Critters for themselves.
As the movie progresses, the situation onboard the spaceship becomes increasingly dire. The Critters continue to cause destruction, and the remaining crew members must work together to try and stop them. The tension builds as it becomes clear that the odds are stacked against the crew, and the Critters seem to be unstoppable.
Critters 4 has a definite horror-movie feel to it. The special effects are well done, and the Critters look suitably menacing. There are also plenty of jump scares and tense moments that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats. The movie is not without its moments of humor, however, and there are several scenes that will make audiences chuckle.
One of the themes that runs throughout the movie is the idea of survival at all costs. The crew members are faced with increasingly difficult choices as the situation onboard the ship becomes more dire. They must decide whether they are willing to sacrifice their own lives in order to stop the Critters and save the human race. The movie also explores the concept of cloning and genetic engineering, raising questions about the ethics of playing God and manipulating the natural world.
Critters 4 is not without its flaws, however. Some of the acting is a bit wooden, and the plot can be a bit predictable at times. There are also a few cliches that some viewers may find tired or overdone.
Overall, however, Critters 4 is an entertaining and engaging movie that will satisfy fans of the horror and science fiction genres. The special effects are well done, the tension is palpable, and the themes explored are thought-provoking. As the final installment in the Critters film series, the movie provides a satisfying conclusion to the story of the Critters and their impact on humanity.
Critters 4 is a 1991 comedy with a runtime of 1 hour and 40 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 4.1.
