Coyote Ugly is a 2000 romantic comedy-drama film directed by David McNally and written by Gina Wendkos. The film stars Piper Perabo, Adam Garcia, and John Goodman in lead roles. The movie is based on the true story of Coyote Ugly Saloon, a chain of bars that originated in New York City that became famous for its female bartenders. The movie follows the story of Violet Sanford (Piper Perabo), a young woman from New Jersey, who moves to New York to pursue her dream of becoming a successful songwriter. However, after numerous rejections and failures, she finds herself in need of a job. That's when she stumbles upon Coyote Ugly, a local bar in downtown Manhattan where female bartenders perform daring stunts and dance on the bar top to entertain customers.
After impressing the owner Lil (Maria Bello) with her singing skills, Violet lands a job as a bartender at Coyote Ugly. At first, Violet feels out of place and awkward, particularly when she is required to perform in front of the rowdy and rowdier crowds. However, with the help of the other bartenders, Cammie (Izabella Miko), Gretchen (Tyra Banks), Zoe (Bridget Moynahan), and Rachel (Melanie Lynskey), Violet starts to let loose and enjoy herself, both behind and on top of the bar.
Amidst all this, Violet meets Kevin O'Donnell (Adam Garcia), a charming Australian who works as a songwriter and sees potential in Violet's music. Though the two fall for each other, their budding romance is cut short by miscommunications, misunderstandings and Violet's fear of being hurt.
However, while all this is happening, Violet also attracts the unwanted attention of the local bar owner Bill (John Goodman), who sees her talent and offers her a record deal. Though she is tempted by the opportunity, Violet worries that Bill's intentions are not pure and struggles to make informed decisions.
As Violet deals with the complications of her love life and career, she also learns to stand up to Lil and Bill, assert her independence, and pursue her dreams on her own terms.
