Concorde Affair is a 1979 action-packed thriller directed by Ruggero Deodato. The film stars James Franciscus as Alain, a former naval officer, who is hired to extract a powerful African revolutionary leader from the clutches of his captors. Mimsy Farmer stars as Louise, a journalist who accompanies Alain on his mission, and Venantino Venantini stars as Colonel Remy, a corrupt military officer who is determined to thwart Alain's efforts.

The movie was made during a time when supersonic travel was becoming more popular, and the Concorde was considered to be the pinnacle of modern aviation. This is reflected in the plot, as the movie revolves around a plan to hijack a Concorde flying from Paris to Rio, with the goal of using it as leverage to secure the release of the African revolutionary.

The film begins with Alain being approached by an old friend who works for a secret organization that carries out covert missions for governments and other powerful organizations. Alain is initially hesitant to take the job, but eventually agrees after he learns the identity of the person he will be rescuing.

As Alain and Louise prepare for their mission, they realize that they are being followed and that their every move is being monitored. They soon learn that Colonel Remy is behind the surveillance and that he has his own agenda for the Concorde hijacking.

The tension builds as Alain, Louise, and the revolutionary leader board the Concorde and begin their flight to Rio. Along the way, they face numerous obstacles, including turbulence, mechanical problems, and the threat of being captured by Colonel Remy's men. As tensions rise, Alain is forced to make some difficult decisions in order to save the lives of everyone on board.

What makes Concorde Affair such a compelling movie is the fast-paced action that keeps viewers on the edge of their seats from start to finish. The stunts and special effects, particularly those involving the Concorde itself, are impressive given the technology of the time.

In addition to the action, the film also explores political and social themes that were particularly relevant in the late 1970s. The struggle for liberation in Africa is a major theme, as is the corrupt nature of some military and government officials. The role of the media is also explored, as Louise's coverage of the hijacking plays a pivotal role in the outcome of the mission.

James Franciscus gives a solid performance as the heroic Alain, balancing toughness and vulnerability in his portrayal of the character. Mimsy Farmer is also excellent as Louise, bringing a sharp wit and intelligence to the role. Venantino Venantini is appropriately menacing as the villainous Colonel Remy, making it clear that he will stop at nothing to achieve his goals.

Overall, Concorde Affair is a well-crafted thriller that still holds up today. Despite being over 40 years old, the film remains an exciting and engaging ride that delivers on the promise of its high-concept premise. Fans of action movies and aviation enthusiasts are sure to enjoy this classic film.
