Compulsion is a psychological thriller movie from 2013, starring Heather Graham, Carrie-Anne Moss, and Kevin Dillon. It is directed by Egidio Coccimiglio and written by Floyd Byars. The movie tells the story of two very different women who find themselves living together under unusual circumstances. Two of them are private investigators, who were hired by a wealthy businessman to solve the mystery behind the disappearance of his daughter. The girl, named Amy, was living with her roommate and best friend Sadie (Heather Graham) in a luxurious apartment. But Amy was hiding a dark secret, which later becomes apparent through flashbacks.

Sadie is a troubled, obsessive-compulsive woman who is struggling to keep her life under control. She is constantly cleaning the apartment and organizing everything around her. She has few friends and is struggling to make ends meet. When Amy goes missing, Sadie becomes a prime suspect and is questioned by the police.

But when the two private investigators, Alex (Carrie-Anne Moss) and Derrick (Kevin Dillon), show up at the apartment, Sadie sees an opportunity to help them solve the case and clear her name. Alex is a seasoned investigator who is very observant, sharp and confident, while Derrick is more of a laid-back, friendly guy. They both start to investigate the case separately, suspecting everyone who was close to Amy.

As they dig deeper, they begin to uncover the secrets that Amy was hiding. They discover a video of her having sex with an unknown man, and they find out that she was involved in a BDSM community. They eventually stumble upon a mysterious guy who goes by the name of 'Handsome' (played by Joe Mantegna), who becomes a key suspect in the investigation.

Compulsion is a movie that relies heavily on its characters to tell the story. Heather Graham brings a lot of depth and complexity to her character Sadie, who is both fragile and strong at the same time. Carrie-Anne Moss is also remarkable as the tough, confident Alex, who is driven to solve the case no matter what.

The movie's pace is slow and deliberate, which helps the audience to relate to the characters and their motivations. However, there are moments when it feels like the film is dragging its heels. The flashbacks, which depict Amy's past and her relationship with Sadie, are a bit confusing at times and could have been executed better.

The movie's visual style is impressive, with a moody, atmospheric feel that adds to the overall intensity of the story. It's shot in dark, shadowy tones that give it a noirish vibe, which works well with the movie's themes.

Compulsion is a well-acted, well-shot thriller that boasts strong performances from its leads. It's a movie that delves into the darkness of the human psyche and explores the consequences of obsession and compulsion. While it's not flawless, it's definitely worth a watch for fans of the psychological thriller genre.

Compulsion is a 2013 thriller with a runtime of 1 hour and 29 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 4.4.
