"Colors Straight Up" is a documentary film about a non-profit organization with a mission to teach drama to inner city youth. The focus of the documentary is on Colors United, a Los Angeles based outreach organization whose mandate is assisting the "at-risk" children of Watts by "schooling" them in the performing arts. The conclusion of film shows the full development of the students abilities to produce their own a musical stage play ("Watts Side Story"). The production represents the culmination of the student's theatrical training and skills training. The musical features equal parts street-gang fashion and Shakespearean tragedy.
