Clergy (Kler) is a Polish drama film, released in 2018, directed by Wojciech Smarzowski. The film follows the stories of three Catholic priests who try to deal with their personal struggles, as well as the challenges they face in their vocations. Father Tadeusz, played by Robert Wieckiewicz, is a priest with a dark past, haunted by memories of his abusive father. He struggles with alcoholism, and his relationship with his superiors is strained. He is sent to a parish in a remote town where he tries to overcome his addiction and confront his demons.

Father Wojciech, played by Jacek Braciak, is a conservative priest who strongly opposes Vatican II reforms. He is a popular figure amongst his conservative congregation, and enjoys preaching to packed pews. However, his beliefs are challenged as he confronts the dark secrets that his fellow priests have been hiding.

Father Jacek, played by Arkadiusz Jakubik, is a charismatic and ambitious priest, who is extremely popular with his young congregation. He is a gifted preacher who uses social media to spread the gospel and connect with his followers. However, his glamorous lifestyle and flashy sermons have drawn criticism from his superiors.

The film also explores the theme of sexual abuse within the Catholic Church. A young girl who was abused by a priest in the past is haunted by her past trauma and seeks justice for herself and others who have suffered. The film shines a light on the institutional cover-up of abuse and the struggles faced by victims seeking justice.

Clergy (Kler) has been praised for its realistic portrayal of the Catholic Church and the struggles faced by its members. The film does not shy away from the dark side of the institution, and shows the priests as complex human beings with their own issues and challenges. The acting is also excellent, with Wieckiewicz, Braciak and Jakubik delivering powerful performances.

Overall, Clergy (Kler) is a thought-provoking and powerful film that explores important themes and delivers a strong message about the need for transparency and accountability within the Catholic Church.
