Even a timeless icon has to retire sometime, and singing legend and Academy Award winning actress Cher decided to end her career with a tour that was televised. Filmed at the American Airlines Arena in Miami in 2002, the special aired on NBC in 2003, drawing 17 million viewers, a ratings hit. The special garnered an Emmy for best Musical Variety Program, and was a television ratings hit overseas as well.
Cher performed a number of classics that she had recorded with her ex-husband and partner, the late Sonny Bono, such as "I Got You Babe" and "The Beat Goes On". She also performed many of her more recent hits, some with other contemporary artists.
