Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle is a 2003 American action-comedy film directed by McG and starring Drew Barrymore, Lucy Liu, Cameron Diaz, and Demi Moore. It is the sequel to the 2000 film Charlie's Angels and features the same trio of private detectives working for the mysterious Charlie. The movie opens with a flashback to a rescue mission during the Angels' training days. The scene then switches to present day, where the Angels are hired by a client to retrieve two rings containing the names of everyone in the Federal Witness Protection Program. The client has only one of the rings, and the Angels must retrieve the second from the corrupt ex-Angel Madison Lee (Demi Moore) before it falls into the wrong hands.
As the Angels race to uncover the location of the second ring, they encounter several obstacles and adversaries, including the Irish mob, a Brazilian hitman, and a pair of half-sisters seeking revenge against Madison. Along the way, the Angels receive help from various characters, including their friend and tech whiz Bosley (Bernie Mac) and former Angel turned rogue agent Dylan Sanders (Drew Barrymore).
Aside from the central mission, the movie also explores the personal lives of the characters. We see Alex (Lucy Liu) struggling with the prospect of leaving the team to start a family with her boyfriend, Jason (Matt LeBlanc). Meanwhile, Dylan is haunted by her past as a runaway foster child and the disapproving attitude of her father (John Cleese). Natalie (Cameron Diaz) engages in a love-hate relationship with a competitive street racer, Pete (Luke Wilson).
Throughout the film, there are several nods to the original television series that inspired the franchise, including cameos by original Angels Jaclyn Smith and Farrah Fawcett.
The action sequences in Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle are fast-paced and exhilarating, featuring stunts such as motorcycle chases, skydiving, and hand-to-hand combat. The use of slow-motion and split-screen editing adds to the visual style of the film. The soundtrack, which includes songs by Pink, Destiny's Child, and The Rolling Stones, complements the energy of the action.
In addition to the action, the movie boasts a strong sense of humor. The banter between the characters is witty and playful, and the comedic timing is spot-on. There are several standout comedic moments, such as a scene where the Angels disguise themselves as nuns and a sequence where they perform a dance routine for a talent show.
Overall, Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle is a fun and entertaining movie that successfully builds upon the elements that made the first film successful. The chemistry between the three leads is still a major draw, and the addition of Demi Moore as a formidable antagonist adds an extra layer of tension. The action and humor are well-balanced, and the film's exploration of the characters' personal lives adds depth to the story. It's a movie that can be enjoyed both as a standalone action flick and as part of the wider Charlie's Angels franchise.
