Charlie St. Cloud is a heartfelt and emotional drama that was released in 2010. Directed by Burr Steers, the movie stars Zac Efron in the titular role of Charlie St. Cloud, a young man whose life takes a dramatic turn after a tragic accident. At the start of the movie, Charlie is an accomplished sailor with a bright future ahead of him. He is close to his younger brother, Sam (played by Charlie Tahan), who idolizes him and is always by his side. But things take a dark turn when the two brothers get into a car accident that leaves Sam dead and Charlie with survivor's guilt.

Charlie becomes stuck in a state of mourning and cannot move on from the death of his brother. He starts to see visions of Sam and spends his days working in a graveyard, where he has made a special spot for Sam's grave. Charlie's obsession with his brother's death has effectively put a pause on his life, and he has even given up on his dream of sailing competitively.

However, everything changes when Charlie meets a girl named Tess (played by Amanda Crew) at a sailing competition. The two quickly fall in love, and Charlie is forced to confront his past and the choices he has made. He realizes that he must choose between living in the past and moving on with his life.

As the movie progresses, we get to see Charlie's internal struggle unfold. He is haunted by the guilt and the pain that he feels over the loss of his brother. He becomes obsessed with meeting Sam's spirit every evening and playing catch with him. Meanwhile, Tess tries to pull him out of this shell and bring him back into the real world, but Charlie is resistant to change.

The acting in the movie is top-notch, with Zac Efron delivering a strong performance that showcases his talent as an actor. We see Efron's character grow and change as he comes to terms with his guilt and grief, and his portrayal of Charlie is both convincing and moving. He beautifully portrays the brokenness of a man who cannot seem to escape his past.

Kim Basinger also plays a significant role in the movie as Charlie's mother. Despite having limited screen time, she manages to deliver a powerful performance that leaves a lasting impression. Meanwhile, Charlie Tahan, who plays Sam's ghost, also does a fantastic job in his role. He is charming, witty, and brings a playful energy to the movie.

Overall, Charlie St. Cloud is a touching and emotional movie that deals with themes of grief, loss, and moving on. The stunning visuals and excellent performances combine to create a compelling and engaging story. The movie offers a powerful message about how we can all learn to let go of our past and move forward. It's a must-watch for anyone who enjoys a good drama that tugs at the heartstrings.

Charlie St. Cloud is a 2010 drama with a runtime of 1 hour and 39 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 6.4 and a MetaScore of 37.
