Cell K-11 is a 2012 thriller movie which directed by Jules Stewart with a talented cast of Goran Visnjic, Kate del Castillo, and D.B. Sweeney. The story takes place in a maximum security prison in downtown Los Angeles, where the inmates are separated according to their gender and their crimes. However, there is one cell that is intended for the high-risk prisoners, and it's called Cell K-11.
The movie begins with a corrupt and abusive sheriff, Lt. Jackson (D.B. Sweeney), who runs the cell K-11. One day, a transgender woman named Mousey (Kate del Castillo) is put into Cell K-11 due to a mix-up by the prison officials, and she becomes trapped in the cell with several other inmates. The cell is in complete darkness, and there is no window or light, leaving Mousey and other inmates in a state of confusion and fear.
As Mousey gets accustomed to her new surroundings, she starts to notice the terrible conditions the other inmates are enduring. She begins to unravel the truth about the horrible living conditions in Cell K-11 and how Lt. Jackson's regime of violence and corruption is behind all of it. Mousey yearns for a way to expose the injustice happening inside the maximum security prison and is determined to do whatever it takes to make it happen.
During her time in Cell K-11, Mousey also gets to know one of her fellow inmates, a mild-mannered and non-threatening man named Rudy (Goran Visnjic). Rudy is a former executive who has been imprisoned for killing his wife and her lover in a jealous rage. As Mousey gets to know Rudy better, she starts to believe that he is innocent and has been framed for his crime. With Rudy's help, Mousey sets out on a journey to uncover the truth about what's happening in Cell K-11 and how to bring this injustice to light.
As the two dig deeper into the situation, they encounter numerous obstacles and challenges along the way. The prison staff appears more determined than ever to keep the inmates silent and in the dark about what's happening outside their cell. Despite this, Mousey and Rudy are determined to find a way out and expose the wrongdoings of Lt. Jackson and his cohorts.
