Cell Count is a 2012 horror-drama film directed by Todd E. Freeman and written by Chad Archibald and Cody Calahan. The movie features Robert McKeehen, Haley Talbot, and Christopher Toyne in lead roles. The movie begins with the story of a scientist, Russell Carpenter (Robert McKeehen), who works hard to cure his wife who is suffering from leukemia. However, despite all his efforts, he fails to save her life. Saddened by his loss, he takes up a job at a remote prison research facility. There, he is asked to develop a cure for a deadly virus that is spreading rapidly around the world.

The movie takes a dark turn when Carpenter learns that the researchers are conducting illegal experiments on the prisoners in the facility. The prisoners are being injected with a virus strain that turns them into a mutated, zombie-like creature. The researchers believe that by testing the virus on the prisoners, they can develop a cure for the disease that is spreading around the globe.

As Carpenter spends more time in the facility, he becomes increasingly disturbed by the experiments being conducted. Despite his misgivings, he continues to work on finding a cure but is hindered by the lack of resources and funding.

Things take an even darker turn when one of the prisoners, Marcus (Christopher Toyne), starts showing signs of intelligence rather than the typical zombie-like behavior. Carpenter becomes interested in Marcus and believes that he may hold the key to finding a cure. However, as Carpenter spends more time with Marcus, he begins to realize that the prisoner might not be what he seems.

The plot thickens as Carpenter uncovers a web of lies and deceit that surround him. He discovers that the researchers have an ulterior motive for the experiments and that his life may be in danger.

The director, Todd E. Freeman, has done a fantastic job in building up the suspense throughout the movie. The cinematography is excellent, and the visuals are stunning. The use of subtle lighting and sound effects adds to the eerie ambiance of the prison facility, creating a sense of claustrophobia and dread.

The actors, Robert McKeehen, Haley Talbot, and Christopher Toyne, have all done an excellent job with their performances. McKeehen, in particular, shines in his role as Carpenter, portraying the character's pain and anguish convincingly. Toyne's portrayal of Marcus is also worthy of note, as he manages to convey the character's complex personality with aplomb.

The movie treads a fine line between horror and drama, and the filmmakers have managed to find a perfect balance between the two. The horror elements are genuinely terrifying, and the suspense will keep you on the edge of your seat.

In conclusion, Cell Count is a well-made horror-drama movie that will leave you thoroughly spooked. The movie has an engaging storyline, excellent visuals, and great performances by the lead actors. The movie's ending is equally disturbing, leaving a lingering sense of unease long after the credits have rolled.

Cell Count is a 2012 thriller with a runtime of 1 hour and 36 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 3.7.
