Calendar Girl is a coming-of-age comedy-drama film from 1993 directed by John Whitesell. The film follows the adventures of three friends, Roy Darpinian (Jason Priestley), Ned Bleuer (Gabriel Olds), and Scott Foreman (Jerry O'Connell), who set out from rural Ohio to find their fortune in Hollywood. The three friends are working menial jobs and living humdrum lives, but they yearn for something more. Roy, the leader of the trio, dreams of making it big in Hollywood as a celebrity photographer. Ned, a budding artist, is looking for inspiration and a new way to express himself. Scott is the wild card of the group, a good-hearted surfer dude with a talent for attracting trouble.

When Roy spots an ad for a national beer calendar featuring semi-nude women, a light bulb goes off in his head. He convinces Ned and Scott to come with him to California, where they plan to find women to pose for their own calendar. They figure that they can sell the calendar and make a small fortune.

The three friends take off in Roy's dilapidated van, hoping to find fame and fortune in the land of sunshine and dreams. Along the way, they pick up a hitchhiker named Cassie (Gabrielle Anwar), who joins them on their journey. Cassie is a free-spirited woman who is running away from an unhappy relationship. With Cassie's help, the boys are able to find the women they need to create their calendar.

As they travel through California, the group embarks on various adventures, like hitchhiking with a group of Hare Krishnas, attending a wild party with a rich old lady, and befriending a lonely little girl. Through it all, they learn more about themselves and each other.

The boys start to realize that their dream of making it in Hollywood is not going to be easy. They get into trouble with the law, struggle to raise enough money to print the calendar, and wrestle with their own doubts and fears. Along the way, they also learn some valuable lessons about friendship, loyalty, and the true meaning of success.

The film is a fun and heartwarming journey that captures the spirit of the 1990s. The humor is playful, and the themes are relatable. Calendar Girl is a lighthearted look at the challenges of growing up, chasing your dreams, and discovering the true meaning of happiness.

The performances in the film are solid, especially from Jason Priestley, who brings a sense of charm and charisma to his role as Roy. Gabrielle Anwar is also a standout as Cassie, adding a touch of grace and mystery to the film.

Overall, Calendar Girl is a charming and entertaining film that is well worth watching. It captures a sense of nostalgia for the 1990s, while also offering a universal message about the importance of following your dreams and finding joy in life's simple pleasures.
