Buried is a 2010 Spanish thriller movie about an American civilian in Iraq who gets kidnapped by Iraqi terrorists. The story was written by Chris Sparling and takes place on October 23, 2006. An American civilian truck driver, Paul Conroy is working in Iraq when a group of Iraqi terrorists ambushes him and his colleagues’ trucks. His colleagues were murdered; however, Conroy was hit in the head with a rock, bound and gagged and buried alive in a wooden coffin with only a lighter and a Blackberry phone.

When he awakes, Conroy gets a phone call from the mastermind of his kidnapping, Jagbir, who calls to demand that he come up with a $1 million ransom by 9:00 pm or die. In an effort to save his life, Conroy contacts the State Department for the ransom money. However, the government policy prohibits them from negotiating with terrorists. So, they place him in contact with Dan Brenner, Head of the Hostage Working Group.

Jagbir continues to call Conroy and tells him to make a couple of ransom videos with his phone. He does everything the kidnapper tells him to do in hopes of being able to see his family again. Brenner maintains contact with Conroy and has a rescue team searching for his coffin. However, Conroy’s coffin starts to fill up with sand. Will Brenner find Conroy before it’s too late?

Buried is a 2010 drama with a runtime of 1 hour and 35 minutes. It has received mostly positive reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 7.0 and a MetaScore of 65.
