Buddy's Song is a 1991 British musical drama film directed by Claude Whatham. The movie follows the life of Buddy Clark, a young boy who dreams of becoming a rock star. He is played by Chesney Hawkes, who rose to fame in the UK with the hit single "The One and Only". Buddy's mother, played by Sharon Duce, is a single parent who works hard to provide for her son. She is struggling to make ends meet and is worried that Buddy's dream of becoming a musician will lead him down the wrong path. However, she is incredibly supportive of his passion for music and encourages him to pursue it.

Buddy's father, played by famous British musician Roger Daltrey, is a famous rock star who abandoned him and his mother when he was a baby. Despite never having met his father, Buddy is obsessed with him and listens to his music constantly.

The movie is set in the working-class town of Bermondsey, South London, in the early 1990s. It was filmed on location in the area, which adds to the authenticity of the story.

Buddy's friend Sam, played by actor and singer Michael Elphick, helps him start a band and they begin performing at local pubs and clubs. Buddy's talent is quickly recognized, and he is offered a recording contract. However, the contract comes with a catch: he must change his name to 'Buddy Boy' to avoid confusion with his famous father.

As Buddy's career takes off, he is torn between his loyalty to his mother and his desire to get to know his father. He struggles to balance his personal and professional lives, and his dreams of success become more complicated as he realizes the price he may have to pay to achieve them.

The film features an impressive cast of talented actors, musicians and comedians, including Roger Daltrey, Chesney Hawkes, Sharon Duce, Michael Elphick, and Mark Wingett. The soundtrack of Buddy's Song includes classic tracks by The Who, Elvis Presley, and Buddy Holly, as well as original music written by Chesney Hawkes.

Overall, Buddy's Song is an entertaining and heartwarming coming-of-age story that explores the themes of family, friendship, and following your dreams. It's a must-see for anyone who loves music, 90s nostalgia, and British cinema.
