In the movie Brightburn, Elizabeth Banks and David Denman play a loving couple who are trying to have a child but unable to do so. One night, a meteor falls from the sky which the couple investigates and discovers a baby inside. They decide to raise the baby as their own and name him Brandon. As Brandon grows up, he exhibits extraordinary abilities such as super strength and the ability to fly. However, he begins to exhibit strange behavior and a lack of empathy towards others. A school counselor suggests that they run some tests on Brandon to understand his behavior, but the couple refuses.

As time goes on, Brandon's behavior becomes more aggressive and he starts to act out towards his peers and his own family. The couple soon discovers that Brandon is not their child, but an alien who was sent to Earth with a sinister purpose.

As Brandon's true nature is revealed, the couple finds themselves in a fight for survival against their own son. The movie raises questions about the nature vs. nurture debate and the idea of evil being inherent or learned.

The performances in the movie are well-done, with Elizabeth Banks offering an emotional and convincing performance as a mother struggling to come to terms with her son's true nature. David Denman also delivers a strong performance as a father who is caught between his love for his son and the need to protect his family.

Jackson A. Dunn is equally impressive as Brandon, delivering a chilling performance as a young boy who has no regard for the lives of others. He is able to convey the character's lack of empathy in a way that is disturbing and chilling.

The film features some impressive special effects, particularly in the scenes where Brandon uses his powers. The filmmakers are able to create a sense of tension and suspense throughout the movie, keeping the audience on the edge of their seats.

One criticism of the movie is that it is quite predictable in its approach. Many viewers will be able to anticipate the film's twists and turns, and there are few surprises along the way. However, the movie still manages to be an enjoyable and entertaining ride for those who enjoy a good superhero horror movie.

Overall, Brightburn is a dark and eerie take on the superhero genre that offers an intriguing and gripping story. The movie succeeds in creating a sense of terror and suspense through its performances, special effects, and tone. While it may not be entirely original, it still manages to be a thrilling and engaging watch for those interested in the darker side of superpowers.

Brightburn is a 2019 horror movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 30 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 6.1 and a MetaScore of 44.
