Breeders is a 1986 science fiction horror film directed by Tim Kincaid. The movie is set in New York City where strange occurrences start happening after an archaeological expedition discovers an old statue. The statue is smuggled into the city and ends up in the hands of a scientist named Dr. Gamble Pace (Teresa Farley). Dr. Pace is fascinated by the statue and begins to study it in her laboratory. She discovers that the statue is not just an object, but a vessel for an alien race. When the aliens inside the statue are exposed to semen, they are able to impregnate any women that they come into contact with.
The movie is centered around a group of women who are stalked by these alien beings. One by one, the women are taken by the aliens and impregnated. The women begin to experience vivid nightmares and strange premonitions.
Dr. Pace is the only one who knows what is really happening, but she is reluctant to share her knowledge with anyone. She believes that the aliens are a vital part of an experiment that could lead to the evolution of humanity.
As the attacks become more frequent and more violent, the women band together to try and stop the aliens. The womenâs efforts are coordinated by one of the womenâs boyfriends, played by Lance Lewman, who seems to know a lot about alien encounters.
The women start to realize that the aliens are using their dreams against them. They begin to fight back by creating a psychic link, which allows them to share their nightmares and fight back against the aliens.
Frances Raines plays a character named Nola, who is a key player in the fight against the aliens. She is a strong-willed woman who refuses to be a victim.
The movie is full of suspense, terror, and gore. It delves into the science fiction genre while also exploring themes of female empowerment and female solidarity.
The film is a low-budget affair, but it makes the most of its limited means. The special effects are cheesy and dated, but this only adds to the charm of the movie. The movie is gory, but not excessively so. The violence is used sparingly but to great effect.
Overall, Breeders is a fun and campy horror movie that is perfect for fans of the genre. The movie is a little rough around the edges, but its charm is undeniable. The film is not for everyone, but it is definitely worth a watch for those who enjoy low budget horror movies with a sci-fi twist.
