Breakthrough is a World War II film from 1979. In May of 1944, Captain Stransky orders Sgt. Steiner to demolish a railway tunnel in order to stop the Russians. Steiner's platoon fails the mission when a Russian tank arrives. Steiner later takes a trip to Paris just before the dawn of the Normandy beach invasion. Steiner's unit transfers to France, within St. Bologne. Gen. Hoffman orders that Steiner cross into enemy-controlled areas in order to reach Col. Rogers and Gen. Webster. There, he is to inform them that the German High Command plans to kill Hitler and will likely surrender.
