Booty Call is a raunchy romantic comedy film directed by Jeff Pollack and released in 1997. The movie stars Jamie Foxx and Tommy Davidson as two friends, Bunz and Rushon, who plan a night of romantic encounters with their girlfriends, Lysterine and Nikki, respectively. Vivica A. Fox also stars in the movie as Lysterine. The story starts when Bunz and Rushon make a pact to lose their virginity with their girlfriends that same night. However, things go awry when Nikki decides to play hard to get and Lysterine tries to get Bunz to commit to a serious relationship. Rushon tries his best to win over Nikki by being a gentleman, but Bunz is more interested in fulfilling his sexual urges rather than building a relationship with Lysterine.

As the night progresses, their plan to have a romantic evening turns into a comedy of errors as they encounter a series of mishaps and awkward situations. Along the way, they face numerous challenges including overcoming their own misgivings, interracial relationships, and sexualities.

The film's humor is mainly driven by the banter between the two lead characters. Jamie Foxx and Tommy Davidson's on-screen chemistry is hilarious, and they play off each other very well. The movie is incredibly funny with its fart jokes, sexual humor, and physical comedy. The characters are exaggerated versions of stereotypes we have all come across, which makes the movie an entertaining watch.

One of the most memorable scenes in the movie is when Bunz and Rushon stop at a fast food joint and ask for "some disco fries with your number on it." These iconic lines have stayed with the viewers and became synonymous with the movie itself. Additionally, the movie features an incredible soundtrack that includes artists such as LSG, En Vogue, and SWV.

Despite the movie's raunchy humor, the characters and their relationships are somewhat endearing. As disjointed as they may be, the friendships and romances shown in the movie hold a great deal of affection, even with the trappings of materialism and expectations of sexual prowess that don’t necessarily have to define the characters.

Booty Call was a successful release, grossing over $20 million, despite mixed reviews. Some critics claimed that the movie objectified women and was misogynistic, while others enjoyed it for being a film that didn't take itself seriously and was all in good fun.

In retrospect, Booty Call was a film that pushed boundaries and countered traditional societal expectations, leading to an overall positive representation of Black culture within the mainstream. While it may have been raunchy and crude at times, it was also relatable and entertaining in its own way.

Overall, Booty Call is a fun, light-hearted film that is perfect for a fun movie night with friends. It celebrates the value of friendship and how one’s own understanding of sexuality, love, and relationships influence one another. If you are looking for a film that will have you laughing out loud, this is the one for you.
