Boardwalk is a film released in 1979, directed by Stephen Verona and starring Ruth Gordon, Lee Strasberg, and Janet Leigh. The movie takes place in Atlantic City during the prohibition era and tells the story of two elderly men, retired vaudeville performers, who have been living for years in a small rooming house near the Boardwalk.

The movie tells the story of David Rosen, played by Strasberg, and Abe Dreyfus, played by Gordon, who are two performers from the vaudeville era. David is a retired magician, and Abe is a retired magician's assistant. They have been friends for years, and they are living together in a small rooming house near the Boardwalk.

Life is not easy for them. they are both broke and struggling to make ends meet. But they have dreams of opening a magic shop, and that dream is what keeps them going. They even have a name picked out for it, "David and Abe's House of Magic."

Things begin to change when a young woman named Dotty, played by Leigh, moves into the apartment next door to David and Abe. Dotty is a singer who has come to Atlantic City seeking fame and fortune. She quickly becomes friends with David and Abe, and they do what they can to help her.

David and Abe soon find themselves caught up in the dangerous and illicit world of the mob, who are running the speakeasies and gambling dens on the Boardwalk. The mob's enforcer, The Commodore, played by Joe Silver, becomes interested in Dotty, and when he begins to threaten her, David and Abe step in to help.

The movie is a charming and light-hearted mix of comedy, drama, and suspense. The performances of Ruth Gordon, Lee Strasberg, and Janet Leigh are absolutely fantastic. They play their roles with such subtlety and grace that you cannot help but be drawn into the world they have created.

The movie also has a great sense of time and place. The Atlantic City of the 1920s is brought to life in vivid detail, with its crowded streets, seedy speakeasies, and grand hotels that once hosted the likes of Al Capone and Lucky Luciano.

Overall, Boardwalk is an entertaining and enjoyable movie that is well worth a watch. It is a perfect example of how a great story, charming characters, and good performances can come together to create a truly wonderful movie.
