Blood Sports is a 2012 dystopian action film directed by Lisa Palenica and produced by Jed Brian. The film is set in a future where every citizen is required to participate in a yearly, televised blood sport competition. The movie explores themes of power, corruption, and survival in a world where violence is normalized and expected.

The story centers around three characters: Donovan (Lance Lewman), a former blood sport champion who's been forced to compete again due to financial troubles; Vega (Andres Williams), a young woman who's been hiding from the competition her whole life but is eventually forced to participate; and Trent (David McCallum), the ruthless head of the competition who will stop at nothing to maintain his power and control.

The movie starts off with a flashback showing how the blood sport competition was initially created as a way to reduce crime and violence in society. However, over time, it has become a corrupt and profit-driven industry that promotes violence and bloodlust. The participants are forced to fight to the death, and the winner is hailed as a hero while the losers are forgotten.

Donovan's story arc follows him as he tries to reclaim his former glory and win the competition once again. He's a hardened fighter who's seen it all, but his experience also makes him aware of the brutality and unfairness of the competition. Throughout the movie, he forms a mentor/student-type relationship with Vega as he tries to prepare her for the competition.

Vega's character is probably the most interesting and sympathetic of the three. She's never participated in the blood sport competition before, having been raised in hiding by her father. Her character arc is all about coming to terms with the reality of the competition and the fact that she may be forced to kill or be killed. She's extremely skilled and resourceful, but also has a strong moral compass that makes her question the morality of the competition.

Trent, the villain of the piece, is a corrupt bureaucrat who runs the blood sport competition with an iron fist. He's a classic example of power corrupting, as he's become obsessed with maintaining his position and the profits that come with it. He's not above bribery or murder to get what he wants, and he's a pretty despicable character.

The action in the movie is brutal and intense, with plenty of fights and bloodshed. The fights are choreographed well, and the performances from the actors are convincing. One major criticism of the movie is that some of the CGI effects (mostly involving the futuristic setting) look a bit cheap and unconvincing.

Overall, Blood Sports is a solid dystopian action movie that explores interesting themes and has some memorable characters. While it's not the most original or groundbreaking movie out there, it's definitely worth a watch for fans of the genre.

Blood Sports is a documentary with a runtime of 47 minutes. It has received mostly positive reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 7.9.
