Blood Freak is a 1972 horror movie that features drug experimentation on turkeys that turn into man-eating monsters. These monstrous turkeys wreak havoc on unsuspecting residents of a small town in Florida. The film, which is thought to be one of the worst movies ever made, combines horror, comedy, and anti-drug messages. The movie begins with Herschell (Steve Hawkes), a biker and a drifter, who is looking for work. He meets Angel (Dana Cullivan), a young, Christian girl who invites him to her sister's house for dinner. It’s there where Herchell meets Ann (Heather Hughes), Angel’s sister who also happens to be a scientist, who offers him experimental drugs in order for him to participate in a study that she is conducting.

Herschell ingests the drugs that are designed to increase the size of chickens, but instead, it turns him into a turkey-sized monster. To make matters worse, he grows a turkey head and becomes addicted to blood. Herschell becomes a bloodthirsty creature, and attacks and kills anyone who crosses his path.

As the movie progresses, it is revealed that Ann's experiments involve turning Florida turkeys into giant, man-eating monsters that target anyone that has ingested the experimental drugs. Herschell's transformation is the main focus of the movie. His addiction leads him to become a killer and eventually, to his own demise.

As the bloodshed increases, Herschell remembers his religious upbringing and turns to Christianity for redemption. The film takes a strong anti-drug stance and promotes Christian principles. In a strange turn of events, Herschell eventually becomes a superhero against drug use, preaching as he takes out the other turkey monsters created by Ann's experiments.

The film was originally intended to be a cautionary tale against drug use, and the subtext of drug addiction and its effects are explored throughout the movie. However, the movie's low production value, amateurish acting, and bizarre plot twists have ensured its place in the annals of cult horror films.

Despite its low-budget production values, Blood Freak has garnered a following among fans of cult horror movies who revel in the film's outrageous premise, quirky characters, and campy special effects. The movie's absurdity and anti-drug message make it a one-of-a-kind viewing experience.

In conclusion, Blood Freak is a horror movie that stands out for its unconventional and bizarre subject matter. While it is not a masterpiece of cinema, it is a must-see for fans of cult horror films. The combination of a drug-addicted, turkey-headed killer and a Christian message gives the movie an interesting twist. This is a film that has to be seen to be believed, and its status as a cult classic is well-deserved.
