Blood Feast is a horror movie from 1963 directed by Herschell Gordon Lewis. The movie stars William Kerwin, Mal Arnold, and Connie Mason. The film is often credited as the first ever "splatter" movie, and it has become something of a cult classic over the years. The movie centers around a man named Fuad Ramses, who runs a catering business in Miami. However, Ramses is not your average caterer - he's actually a deranged murderer who is obsessed with ancient Egyptian rituals. He is on a mission to complete a sacrificial ritual in which he must collect the body parts of various young women, which he plans to use to resurrect the goddess Ishtar.

The film begins with a young woman named Suzette (played by Connie Mason) meeting with her friend, who works at a local bookshop. The friend is trying to convince Suzette to buy an ancient Egyptian cookbook, which she says is the latest trend in home cooking. Suzette is skeptical, but she decides to buy the book anyway.

The scene then switches to the Ramses Catering business, where Fuad is making preparations for his sacrificial ritual. He spends a great deal of time reciting ancient Egyptian incantations and building an elaborate altar to Ishtar. His assistant, Mal Arnold's character, is skeptical of the whole thing, but he goes along with Fuad's plans anyway.

As the movie progresses, we see Fuad luring young women to his catering business under false pretenses. He tells them that he is preparing an "Egyptian feast" and that he needs their help with the preparations. Once he has the women in his grasp, he drugs them and performs a gruesome surgery in which he removes various body parts that he needs for his ritual.

The blood and gore in the movie are quite graphic, for its time, and it's easy to see why Blood Feast is often credited with starting the "splatter" genre of horror movies. There are several scenes in which we see Fuad cutting up body parts, and the camera lingers on the gore for quite a while.

One aspect of the movie that is often criticized is its acting. The performances are quite over-the-top and melodramatic, and the dialogue is often laughably bad. However, this is part of what makes the movie so entertaining - it's difficult not to be amused by the sheer ridiculousness of it all.

Despite its flaws, Blood Feast has become something of a cult classic over the years, and it is often mentioned as an influence on other horror movies that have followed. The movie's low budget and DIY ethos have inspired countless filmmakers, and its place in horror movie history is secure.

Overall, Blood Feast is a gory, goofy, and entertaining horror movie that is well worth watching for fans of the genre. It's not for the faint of heart, as the blood and gore are quite graphic, but for those who can stomach it, it's a fun and unique viewing experience.

Blood Feast is a 1963 horror movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 7 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 5.0.
