A young village woman is raped. The custom required by her village is it she is killed. Her death is to expunge her family of the dishonor of her being raped. A young man, the village leader's son, is charged with this task but falters. Together they run away but they are followed by locals intent on the woman's death. They meet an ex-university professor who happens to need a crew and together they set forth on the sea toward a life changing voyage.
