Blind Date is a romantic comedy from 1987 directed by Blake Edwards and starring Kim Basinger, Bruce Willis, and John Larroquette. The movie follows the love story of Walter Davis (John Larroquette), an uptight workaholic who needs a date to a company party, and Nadia Gates (Kim Basinger), a beautiful, free-spirited woman with a weakness for alcohol.
Walter is convinced by his brother Ted (Phil Hartman) to loosen up and have some fun, and he agrees to go on a blind date with Nadia, despite knowing nothing about her. The only condition is that he has to keep her sober throughout the evening. When he arrives at the restaurant to meet her, he finds out that she's stunning, but also a little unpredictable, with a tendency to cause chaos wherever she goes.
The night starts off well, with Walter and Nadia getting to know each other and enjoying each other's company. However, as the evening progresses, Nadia's alcohol consumption increases rapidly, and Walter finds himself struggling to keep her sober. Their date turns into a series of hilarious misadventures that include a run-in with Nadia's ex-boyfriend David (William Daniels), a car chase, a bar fight, and a wild ride on a rollercoaster.
As the night goes on, Walter and Nadia's feelings for each other start to grow, but their differences threaten to drive them apart. Walter's uptight nature clashes with Nadia's carefree attitude, and her drinking becomes increasingly problematic. Still, they can't deny their connection, and they find themselves drawn to each other despite the obstacles in their way.
Meanwhile, Walter's boss, Mr. Yakamoto (Sab Shimono), is watching his behavior closely, and Walter's job is on the line if he doesn't impress him at the party. Walter's attempts to keep Nadia under control become increasingly difficult, and he is forced to come up with creative solutions to keep her sober. In the end, it all comes down to whether he can get her to the party in one piece and prove himself to his boss.
Blind Date is a fun, lighthearted comedy that showcases the chemistry between its two leads. Kim Basinger is charming and witty as Nadia, while Bruce Willis delivers a hilarious supporting performance as her ex-boyfriend's friend. John Larroquette is excellent as Walter, perfectly capturing his transformation from straight-laced workaholic to carefree romantic. The movie features a great soundtrack, including hits like "Word Up" by Cameo and "Chain of Fools" by Aretha Franklin.
Overall, Blind Date is a charming and entertaining romantic comedy that offers plenty of laughs and heartwarming moments. It's not a perfect movie, but it's a great way to spend a couple of hours with its quirky characters and fun storyline. If you're a fan of 80s romantic comedies, this one is definitely worth checking out.
