Black Christmas is a 2019 horror movie that follows a group of sorority sisters as they prepare to celebrate the Christmas holiday on their college campus. However, things quickly take a dark turn when they begin to receive threatening messages and become the targets of a mysterious and violent stalker. The movie opens with our protagonist Riley (Imogen Poots), a survivor of sexual assault, struggling with the trauma she has experienced and the lack of support she has received from her school and peers. As she and her fellow sorority sisters prepare for their Christmas break and the arrival of their families, they start receiving threatening messages that are clearly meant to incite fear and terror.

As the girls start to disappear one by one, Riley and her friends must band together to uncover the identity of their stalker and put an end to their reign of terror before it's too late.

Aleyse Shannon plays Kris, one of Riley's closest friends and a fierce activist who is committed to fighting against the patriarchal systems that have allowed their stalker to thrive. Meanwhile, Lily Donoghue plays Marty, a sarcastic and tough-talking sorority sister who provides some much-needed comic relief throughout the film.

As the group races to figure out who is behind the attacks and stop them before more harm can be done, they are forced to confront the dark underbelly of their seemingly idyllic campus and the twisted individuals who lurk in the shadows.

Despite the fact that the film is rooted in horror, it also explores many important social and political themes that are incredibly relevant to the current cultural zeitgeist. The movie tackles a variety of hot-button issues such as toxic masculinity, rape culture, and privilege with thoughtfulness and nuance, making it more than just a mere slasher flick.

One of the standout elements of the film is the strong and empowered female cast. Each of the sorority sisters are fully fleshed-out characters who are complex and layered, providing a refreshing change from the typical one-dimensional female stereotypes that are often present in horror films.

In addition to the performances of the lead actresses, the cinematography and special effects are top-notch, contributing to a stylish and visually striking aesthetic that perfectly captures the tone and atmosphere of the movie.

Overall, Black Christmas is a heart-pumping, thought-provoking horror movie that will stick with viewers long after the credits have rolled. With its fierce feminist messaging and top-notch execution, it's a standout addition to the horror genre and a must-see for fans of the genre.

Black Christmas is a 2019 horror movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 32 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 3.5 and a MetaScore of 49.
