Binta and the Great Idea is a French short film. The story is told from the point of view of Binta, a young African girl. She talks about her father's great idea and his recent visit with a friend who visited Europe. His friend tells Binta's father all about how the Europeans catch fish, and get wealth. Her father keeps talking to officials throughout the movie. It is not until end that you find out what his great idea really is.
The story also focuses on Binta's cousin, Soda, who wants to continue her schooling and must convince her father that girls should go to school.
